Meatballs with sauce are a simple homemade dish. It was a poor dish, made with meat’s leftovers.

Leftovers were mixed together with other ingredients, such as eggs and bread. Today, however, this would be a “noble” dish, as you choose top quality ingredients: fresh ground meat, grated parmesan cheese and some spice.

There are different ways to make meatballs, since each one making them according to tradition or personal taste. You can eat meatballs as a main course or with pasta like orecchiette.

But most importantly, you should dip a piece of bread in the sauce. You will not regret it!

INGREDIENTS

300 grams of ground beef

1 egg

2 tbs of parmigiano cheese

1 tbs of romano cheese

1/2 chopped onion

1 can of tomato sauce

2 piece of bread

1 tbs of chopped parsley

a pinch of salt and pepper

1 tbs of breadcrumb

2 tbs of olive oil

1 bay leaf

PREPARATION
  1. Stat making the sauce. Put 2 tbs of olive oil in a pot, add 1/4 of chopped onion.
  2. When the onion is golden, add the sauce, 1/2 cup of water and 1 bay leaf and cook at medium heat.
  3. Put in a bowl the ground beef, egg, cheese and the chopped onion. Add the crumbled bread, parsley, salt and pepper and mix all together.
  4. With the help of a spoon and your hands make medium meatballs. Alt="step 1-2"
  5. Add the meatballs in the sauce and let them cooked at low heat for 20 minutes.
  6. Serve meatballs. Or bring to boil pasta and add it to the meatballs sauce.
